Purrfect

(Or furfect.. whichever seems to be the best play on words). Hopefully you will have guessed that this post is going to be about all things soft & (fake) furry.

As a pescetarian (meaning I eat fish but not meat) I believe in animal rights.. as long as they live above sea level anyway (sorry fishies). What I love about winter is the amount of faux fur on offer to us, in all different kinds of prints, textures and general loveliness. The softest coats you can imagine, without any cruelty - now thats my kind of a winter jacket.

So below are my favourite fur coats available on the highstreet.

Happy wearing!

P.s, I went into town yesterday in an attempt to cancel my Miss Selfridge card, and ended up setting up a Topshop one as well as the one I already had, what is my life?

Tea Total

Yes that's right, I am tea total (not to be mistaken with tee total - definitely not.) This basically means that I am an avid tea drinker, and as such, I am going to try and make this habit/hobby stylish.

I often make myself a cuppa, and once I've finished, I want another. Since bottomless mugs aren't possible in this day and age (that I know of) I have decided to buy myself a teapot, meaning I can drink 2 or 3 brews before I have to go and make another. This may sound like an addiction, but I assure you it is just a passion of mine, and a way of stopping the headaches I get when I don't drink it.

So anyway, I have searched high and low for a teapot, and I thought I would share the most stylish with you.

All available at Amazon - okay maybe I didn't search that high and low, but I was busy making a brew.

Now all I need is a new tea dress to go with my teapot. Must dash, topshop calls!

I Want It Ebay

(If you sing the title to this post to 'I Want It That Way' by Backstreet Boys, it makes it much more effective).

Anyway, since reading the terms and conditions of my Miss Selfridge store card, with little understanding albeit, I have come to the conclusion that I need to save my pennies. Therefore, I am going to do everything in my power to buy as much as I can for the littlest amount of money possible (fun!)

As people around me are probably aware, I'm a spendaholic. I'm constantly spending money on things I don't want or need, so when something does come along that I totally fall in love with (a leapoard print fur coat every single A/W for the past 3 years goddammit! I swear they remain fashionable to taunt me) I can not afford it. No more! I say.

Therefore, I am making a pledge on the world wide web that I am going to find ways to spend money more carefully (and pay off my store card with any dollar left over). It is for that reason that I have decided to start shopping on Ebay and in charity stores. I'm going to be brutally honest, I am the kind of person who can't be bothered searching through the sale racks and so constantly buy things the day before the sales begin, only to find out I've bought £200 worth of clothing, which could have set me back just £50 had I waited a day. Thus, the thought of hunting down clothes in charity shops doesn't sound so appealing.

Yet, I'm also quite excited about it as it means I will probably find much more unique and quirky pieces than I ever could on the high street. I may even get chance to style some pieces if I can find a decent book about how to cut/sew etc. (maybe in Barnardo's!?) And let's face it, there's no harm in helping out a charity, god knows how many clothes I've sent to them, I may as well buy some.

So keep tuned on my journey to the charity store and Ebay (going to have to wait until payday though, as I've already spent my wages this month. Typical.)

Stars & Stripes.. & Spots

Recently there's been a bit of excitement with designers around print - predominantly so when it comes to all things starry, stripey, or spotty. Below are some of my favourites that are bound to have you look a lot more stylish in no time!

Try wearing the different patterns together to make more of a statement, e.g. a spotty blouse with starry shorts, and all different kinds of combos. Makes sure to mix textures and colours, and voila! Ready for Autumn

What Not To Wear When You Live In England

For those of you that don't live in England, the rumours are true - it rains all the time. And myself, being decidedly British, thought I could conquer all things rainy and go out wearing my blue t-bar sandals. 'You're mental' you say? Well hear me out.

I've been cooped up in the house all day, and so I decided to go for a walk to the shop. I looked outside and the weather was miserable, so dressed accordingly (black skinnies, black tee, black leather jacket) as if I was mourning the death of the sun. I then ventured into my wardrobe to try and find some appropriately morbid footwear, and my little sandals just looked as if they were lonely. As I shed a tear (metaphorically) about how those little sandals needed to be worn and loved as they once were in happier times, I slipped them on, adding a bit of colour to my otherwise funeral-esque outfit.

So off I went, skipping down the road towards the co-op, in the rain, without an umbrella (looking back this was also a mistake, but us Brits are hardcore). On the way I was whistled at, I think the sandals were the main cause of this, and even though it was flattering, I decided to walk the long way home to avoid them. Another mistake. It was like I was Bear Grylls, walking through mud the same consistency as what I imagine are at the gates of hell, puddles as big as the nile, and weather that had turned from what had been a gentle drizzle to a tsunami from the sky.

My feet are now as blue as the sandals, and I will be sticking to my wellies from now on. Thanks England.

(sorry about the odd angle of the picture, I lost my camera in Dubai and so had to use my webcam on my mac - not easy!)

A/W 11

It seems that Autumn is upon us (I can tell by the weather outside, not that it's really that different from Summer) which means that it is time for us all to relish in cosy knits.

For that reason, I have chosen five of my favourite knits (jumpers, cardi's etc.) so you can stay on trend all season, yay you!

This cocoon/boyfriend style cardi looks totally snug! Wear it with skinnies and brogues for a classic look.

This jumper is shorter than most. I'd wear it tucked into some camel coloured shorts to make it pop, and the heavy knit of it will stand out.

Aztec is really in this season, so combine two trends and look extra fashionable.

This cardigan has kimono sleeves - a total must!

The peter pan collar gives this jumper a classic look, make sure you wear it with a nude or brown bag and shoes to make it stay chic.
